Kaneland Harter Middle School teachers serve up fun at local McDonald's

McTeacher's Night raises money for the school

SUGAR GROVE – Teachers from Kaneland Harter Middle School took a break from their classrooms to serve diners at the Sugar Grove McDonald's on May 28 to raise money for the school.

Principal Brian Faulkner wore the apple pie box during the three hour event while two teachers sold the pies alongside him.

Several teachers also called out orders, delivered meals to the families, helped at the front counter, assisted with the kiosk, maintained the lobby and helped at the drive-thru window.

The school chorus, Midnight Special, made an appearance and sang several songs.

The proceeds from the sale of the 146 pies went directly to benefit the KHMS PTO school, and fifteen percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher’s Night sales. The PTO plans to use some of these funds toward the school's outdoor classroom.

Ed Schmitt, Owner-Operator of the Sugar Grove McDonald’s, was delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.

“McTeacher’s Night is part of McDonald’s larger commitment to education and other important initiatives supporting families and the local community,” Schmitt stated in a press release.  “We are proud to serve the families of the KHMS Community through the McTeacher’s Night event. In addition to helping provide financial support for our local schools, we help students feel connected to their school, their teachers and their sense of community.”
