A 27-year-old man from Kankakee County is making a name for himself on ABC’s popular reality show “The Bachelorette.”
Kevin Fortenberry is a behavioral health specialist from Manteno, according to his biography on ABC's website. For the past two weeks,
he has been competing on national television against dozens of other men for the chance to have Bachelorette Hannah Brown's hand in marriage.
On the show, which airs at 7 p.m. Mondays, Brown hands out roses to fewer and fewer men each week, until she finds the one she wants to marry.
Fortenberry had the opportunity Monday to get some one-on-one time with the bachelorette, but a fellow contestant interrupted them. The altercation ended with Fortenberry throwing chicken nuggets in the other man’s face.
The Manteno resident played baseball at Manteno High School and now works as a behavioral health specialist for the Army, helping veterans deal with trauma.
When he’s not working, he’s pumping iron at the gym, according to ABC. Fortenberry told the network his past relationships haven’t worked out because he “loves too hard.”
He also enjoys Harry Potter, playing the piano and singing, and wants to travel more.
Fortenberry works as a bartender at Stampede Saloon, according to his social media. The self-described country bar’s staff has “Bachelorette” nights every Monday to watch their colleague.
Neither Saloon staff nor Fortenberry could be reached for comment for this story Tuesday.
