Crystal Lake's Quarry Cable Park ownership to be restructured

Ownerhsip of The Quarry Cable Park at Three Oaks Recreation Area in Crystal Lake is being restructured.

On Tuesday, the City Council approved the change.

“The same individuals are involved; they just restructured the corporate entity,” Mayor Aaron Shepley said in a message Wednesday evening.

In March 2014, Crystal Lake entered into a property use agreement with Copley McGinnis LLC for the development of a cable wakeboard park at Three Oaks Recreation Area, 5517 Northwest Highway, according to city documents.

However, the city recently was notified that the existing owners of The Quarry Cable Park requested a change in the formal ownership of the park.

Ownership of The Quarry Cable Park previously was split 50/50 between Patrick T. McGinnis and William J. Rinn.

However, the owners requested the assignment of Rinn and McGinnis' 50% ownership shares to Buck Central LLC.

Buck Central is managed by McGinnis, according to city documents. Because these changes would result in more than a 50% ownership interest change, the city’s consent was required.

The Quarry Cable Park is a 32-acre cable wake park. It was the first full-size wakeboarding cable park in the Chicago area when it opened about three years ago, according to Northwest Herald archives.

The main full-size course is almost a half-mile long with a number of jumps and features.
