Carolyn Ann Brown

DIXON – Carolyn Ann Brown, age 86, of Dixon, died Sunday, April 28, 2019, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born February 11, 1933, in Sterling, the daughter of Anthony and Marie (Elliott) Clinton. Carolyn was a graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in Kewanee, Class of 1954, and had a dedicated career working at various hospitals, nursing homes, and in home care as a Registered Nurse.

She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon, and NAIM. She served as a Parish Nurse, a 4H Leader, and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was also a “stage mom” and was very active in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Carolyn married John Wesley Brown on November 27, 1954, in Princeton. He preceded her in death January 7, 1990. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Clinton and Anthony “Tony” Clinton.

Survivors include her children, Diane (Jason) Nelson of Dixon, Kevin (Theresa) Brown of Mahomet, Karen (Edd) Robinson of Princeton, Ellen Weinzierl, Scott (Jennifer) Brown, and Sarah Brown, all of Dixon; 14 grandchildren, Heidi (Andrew) Moe, Hannah Nelson, Todd Nelson, Megan (Chris) Hamby, Mae (Matt) Vogel, Christopher (Clarissa) Brown, Jonathan Brown, Michael (Tara) Robinson, Catherine Weinzierl, Molly Weinzierl, Aidan Brown, Dane Grapsas, Jace Grapsas, and Aristotle Grapsas;  nine adored great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Freres of Dixon and Patricia Brocken of Oak Park; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Clinton of Ohio and Kathleen Clinton of Nashville, TN.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon, with the Rev. Keith Romke, Pastor, officiating, preceded by a visitation from 9 a.m. until time of Mass in the church.  Burial of cremains will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Ohio.
