DIXON – A handful of new business happenings are on tap in Dixon, including two new restaurants bringing barbecue and fire-baked pizza to the city.
The owners of Smoked on 3rd BBQ Bistro and Catering in downtown Sterling will be expanding by opening up Lil’ Smoked at 609 Depot Ave. later this summer.
John French and Michelle Burns opened Smoked on 3rd in late 2016 at 14 E. Third St. and will be bringing some of their signature dishes over to the Dixon location, including boo-yah deep fried potato salad, Irish egg rolls and smoked brisket.
Eric and Judy Brantley, owners of The Crystal Cork Wine Shoppe at 219 W. First St., also are expanding their footprint; they started construction in the old Spurgeon’s Bay building at 215 W. First St., which will be home to Fire, a restaurant featuring wood-fired pizza and barbecue.
“The Crystal Cork was founded on the idea to give them more than they expect, and our new restaurant will be nothing less than spectacular,” they said on Facebook.
“We are so thankful for the continued support of the community and look forward to offering wood-fired pizza and barbecue.”
Doctor’s office
Dr. Tarun Mullick, a gastroenterologist based in Geneva with offices in several other northern Illinois cities, has opened an office at 1700 S. Galena Ave.
Mullick said he decided to open in Dixon because of the shortage of gastroenterologists in the area and a 3-month wait for patients to get a colonoscopy.
The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
