Locals show off their fancy footwork at Opera House

Dance event raises funds for Some Heroes Don’t Wear Capes

TJ Hodges of Some Heroes Don’t Wear Capes organized a local Dancing Like the Stars event that took place March 30 at the Sandwich Opera House.

It was a sellout crowd. The dance couples included Shannon Nuzbach, real estate broker with John Greene Realtor, and partner Jamal Williams, Plano Ward 2 Alderman; Nikki Osterloh with CASA Kendall County and partner Jason Davis, Suzy’s Bar And Grill & Suzy’s Pizza of Yorkville; Manda Zappia, Parkview Christian Academy, and Joel Recchia, retail manager with Heartland Bank and Trust Company; Sandra Hurtado, Harmony Aesthetics, and partner Brad Fiorenza, MTV; Geri Benning, executive director at the Sandwich Area Chamber of Commerce, and partner Bill Novicki, Park superintendent for the Sandwich Park District; and Mary Ann Vernon, Griffith Haven Counseling, and partner Zac Portell, Twenty 4 Design.

There were five local judges: Sarah Allen, branch manager FNBC Bank & Trust; Joel Frieders, Third Ward Alderman United City of Yorkville; Sherri Farley, executive director Yorkville Chamber of Commerce; Jessica Mitchell, Living Davina Yoga & Fitness Studio; and Falastine Reese, Earthmovers Credit Union. This event benefited Some Heroes Don’t Wear Capes to help Hodges continue to assist people through good deeds. A portion also went back to the Sandwich Opera House.

The first-place couple was Manda Zappia and Joel Recchia, second place was Nikki Osterloh and Jason Davis and third place was Mary Ann Griffith and Zac Porter.
