Randy Strader

WYANET — Randy D. Strader, 69, of Wyanet passed away on Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, after living a life full of adventures. He died at Cape Coral Hospital in Cape Coral, Fla., with his beloved wife, Marlene, by his side.

Randy was born June 3, 1949, in Princeton to Robert and Sylvia (Linaweaver) Strader. He married Pamela (Heggemeier) in 1967. He married Willa (McAdams) in 1979. He later found and married his best friend, Marlene (Marty) Broeckel, on Dec. 1, 2010.

Randy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother who brought life, humor and happiness to those who surrounded him. His grandchildren referred to him as “Grandpa Cookie,” as he always had a full cookie jar when they visited.

He was a skilled carpenter and continuously crafted even after retiring. His handyman-trait enabled him to fix and refurbish just about anything. He always said, “Anything is possible, some things just take a little longer.” He has left many sentimental items and funny quotes for his family to cherish and remember him by.

Randy and Marty spent countless days scavenging garage sales and flea markets, finding pieces to recreate and complete their home in Fort Myers, Fla. The two best friends spent each day together, and she was a continuous support throughout his “9-lives.” He was a fighter with his health, an extremely proud father and grandfather, and a creator of treasured times that will be deeply missed.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sylvia Strader; and his other loves and mothers of his children, Pamela and Willa.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; his children, Karen (Rendall) Russell of Wyanet; Randy (Ardee) Strader of Fort Myers, Fla., and Will (Bo) Strader of Blue Ash, Ohio; his stepchildren, Carrie McAdams of Scotch Plains, N.J., and Brenda (Chris) Karas of The Villages, Fla.; his grandchildren, Megan and Bailey Russell, Summer, Ethan and Gavin Strader, and Shannon Bauer; his siblings, Tom (Linda) Strader of Wyanet, Jerry (Mary) Strader of Wyanet, Terry (Jan) Strader of Cape Coral, Fla., and Jack Strader of Albia, Iowa; and his favorite sister, Scherry (Gene) Buckman of Wyanet. He leaves behind his precious dog, Freckles, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, in addition to many other beloved friends and relatives.

A celebration of life will be held in May 2019 in Illinois.
