Romeoville woman helps bail out R. Kelly with $100K

'If your friend was in trouble, wouldn't you bail them out?' she said

A woman from Romeoville posted bail for R. Kelly Monday, according to Cook County Circuit Court documents.

Valencia P. Love, 47, posted a $100,000 bond to get the R&B singer out of the Cook County jail while he was awaiting trial on charges he sexually abused four people dating back to 1998, including three underage girls.

The Herald-News contacted Love who claimed she lives in Romeoville and was the one who posted bail for Kelly.

On the bond documents, Love listed her relationship to Kelly as "friend." She confirmed Kelly was a childhood friend of hers.

"If your friend was in trouble, wouldn't you bail them out?" she said.

Love did not say whether or not the money was hers.

"He's out," she said. "It doesn't matter who (posted it)."

Love refused to go into detail about how well she knew Kelly but said they had kept in touch throughout the years.

"I only helped a friend out," she said.

She said she felt he was innocent until proven guilty.

"We've heard their side," she said. "We'll wait for his side to come out."
