Huntley Plan Commission to review fire station, warehouse hub plans

A new Huntley Fire Protection District station adjacent to Sun City and a warehouse distribution hub at the former Huntley Outlet Center site will be up for consideration during Monday's Plan Commission meeting.

The proposed fire station would be on a 2.23-acre site on the southeast corner of Jim Dhamer Drive and Hennig Road. The district also is planning a 27,800-square-foot, two-story addition to its current administration building and maintenance facility at 11118 E. Main St.

Both projects would be funded by
$14 million in reserves that the district has saved.

The district is seeking recommendation for a final plat of subdivision and site plan review.

Station 5’s construction is slated to be finished by December.

A number of requests related to the development of a warehouse distribution hub at 11800 Factory Shops Blvd., the former site of the Huntley Outlet Center, also are on the Plan Commission’s agenda.

An architectural site plan for the project calls for two estimated 245,000-square-foot warehouse distribution and office buildings and a 177,000-square-foot warehouse building.

Developer Rich Turasky previously had said about 8 acres have been sold to General RV to expand its business, and the property owners are looking to sell an additional
6 acres.

The last store in the shopping center closed in May 2017, about a year after the property was bought by Huntley Investment Partners LLC, which is seeking a special use permit, rezoning and other items for recommendation to the Village Board.

The Plan Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Huntley Municipal Complex, 10987 Main St.
