Schneider delivers ‘Valentines for Veterans’

LINCOLNSHIRE – Before Valentine’s Day, 10th District Congressman Brad Schneider again collected and distributed handmade cards to area veterans.

Local children and 10th District constituents created and dropped off more than 2,000 cards to Schneider’s Lincolnshire office.

Schneider delivered the cards Feb. 9 at a pancake breakfast hosted by the Lake County Honor Flight in Antioch and at an annual Valentine’s Day bingo game at Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago with help from a local 4-H chapter.

“The men and women who nobly served our nation deserve to hear thank you throughout the year, not just on Veterans Day,” Schneider said in a news release. “These cards are another way to share our appreciation with area veterans and let them know we are thinking of them. The 10th District community has really embraced this program as we collected more cards than ever in our third year.”

Constituent service representatives in Schneider’s office are available to help residents with issues involving the federal government. His team has worked with area veterans to expedite medical appointments, process benefit claims with the VA, secure medals and honors that were earned but never received, and more.

In 2018, Schneider hosted two recognition ceremonies for area veterans as part of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War Commemoration.

This is Schneider’s third year running the “Valentines for Veterans” program.
