Crest Hill police continue to investigate a fatal shooting Monday morning outside an apartment building.
No one has been arrested, but Chief Ed Clark said police are making progress.
“There’s a lot of work being done,” Clark said Wednesday. “It’s progressing nicely.”
Aaron Tucker, 20, of Joliet was shot to death while sitting in a car in the parking lot outside an apartment building at 1461 Pioneer Road.
Tucker was one of two people in the car. The other person was not hit.
Clark declined to provide details on the shooting or potential suspects as the investigation continued, but did say people in the area have cooperated in the investigation.
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers of Will County at 800-323-6734 or call Crest Hill police at 815-741-5115 and ask for investigations.
One area resident told The Herald-News that the shooter was believed to have been standing on a balcony of the three-story apartment building. Others said he had gone back into the building, and police continued to suspect that he could have been in the apartment building hours after the shooting occurred at 11:30 a.m.
Clark, however, said police were able to determine that the shooter was not in the apartment building shortly after they arrived at the scene. Clark declined to comment on whether the shooter was on an apartment balcony and would say only that he was in the area of the building.
The building is along a row of apartments that line Pioneer Road and is an area that has had other incidents in recent years.
