Homer W. Bishop Jr.

STREATOR — Homer W. Bishop Jr., 73, of Streator, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.

Per his request, cremation rites will be accorded and memorial services will be at a later date. Elias Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born June 24, 1945, in Home, Pa., he was the son of Homer and Irene (Cameron) Bishop Sr. He married Carol J. Ashbeck on July 31, 1965, in Niles, Mich.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Streator; children, Daniel W. (Donna) Bishop, of Joliet, and Annette C. Bishop, of Streator; grandchildren, Kelsey and Tyler Bishop; and his mother, Irene Houser, of Indiana, Pa. He also is survived by his foster grandchildren, Mandy (Farrell) Simpson, Kelli Farrell and Jason Cox; siblings, Janet Bishop Hannah, Kenneth (Ruth) Houser, Thomas (Karen) Houser; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; brother, James; and stepfather, Raymond Houser.

He graduated from DeVry University. He did maintenance and repair on industrial machinery and sold patterns of his woodworking designs.

He spent many hours woodworking and loved to fish, hunt and camp. He also spent many hours sitting in the backyard watching birds, chipmunks and squirrels.

He was active in Boy Scouts for several years.
