Oleanders celebrates one year in Morris

Company has grown to six employees, online store

MORRIS – The Grundy County Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently held a ribbon-cutting celebrating the one-year anniversary of Oleanders – a unique women’s boutique in downtown Morris.

The shop opened its doors for the first time since August 2017 at
304 Liberty St., Morris. Since then, owners Kara Cummings and Megan Housman have grown their staff to six employees and added an online boutique.

“We strive to bring our beloved customers the most up-to-date options the fashion world has to offer, and we work tirelessly to bring them the best quality items at the best price. From dresses to jeans to rompers to blouses and just about everything else, we promise our store has something for everyone – no matter their size, age or style,” Cummings said in a news release.

The business is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

“In its first year, Oleanders has become the place to go for anything from casual wear to dresses, and shoes for every outfit,” Chamber Executive Director Christina Van Yperen said. “Visiting Oleanders is more than just a shopping trip; it’s an experience and always a good one.”

As a successful local business, Oleanders wants to show its appreciation and prioritize giving back to its community in ways such as donating baskets for local charities to giving thousands to national pediatric cancer causes.

Oleanders plans to expand by offering children’s clothing in the near future.

“Our mission is to provide a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. Whether that be first-rate customer service while helping pick out just the right outfit in store, or showing how all the new online pieces fit via our social media outlets. We are constantly setting our own standards higher and higher,” Housman said.
