A Naperville man was arrested after an investigation into whether he possessed several child pornography videos, authorities said.
On Tuesday, Victor H. Linares, 44, of the 2200 block of Salisbury Drive was arrested and booked into the Will County jail on a charge of possession of child pornography. His arrest was part of a joint investigation of the Naperville Police Department and the Will County State’s Attorney’s Crimes Against Children Unit.
Naperville police said in a news release that a search warrant was executed at Linares’ residence after an investigation into the possession and distribution of child pornography.
Both the investigation and the search warrant led to Linares’ arrest.
Linares was charged with three counts of possessing child pornography, according to the criminal complaint. All three counts are considered Class 2 felonies that carry a potential sentence of probation or three to seven years in prison if convicted, Naperville police said.
Linares was arrested about 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to jail records.
Linares’ bond was set at $150,000. He needs 10 percent of the $150,000 bond to post bail for his release from the county jail.
Linares was scheduled to appear for a bond hearing at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. He also is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 3.
Linares remained in custody at the county jail Tuesday night.
