The corner building at 324 E. Main St. in Streator, former home of Flips Exchange - Thrift & Consignment, was bought by Jeanine Hipps.
Hipps had an open house Saturday to give away merchandise left in the Flips store.
She plans to live in an upper level apartment in the building and operate a business she wants to call Our Town at the storefront. The business will give storefront space to small businesses, such as arts and crafts makers, to sell their products.
New women's boutique coming to Streator's Main Street Market
More of Me, a boutique for curvy women clothes, is planning a soft opening at the end of September and to be fully open by the first or second week of October, according to a Facebook post on its page. The business will be located in the Main Street Market building on the second floor, 317 E. Familiar name in pizza coming back to Streator
Dixie's Pizza is eyeing a return in Streator. The business is projecting a Friday, Sept. 29, opening date. It will operate from inside Jackpots at 110 E. Hickory St.

New bakery at Harcar's
Harcar's Meat Market, 711 James St., Streator, announced on Facebook it would be extending a new bakery section to the store. The project is in its initial stages, according to the Facebook post. Mendota's Marchelloni pizza looking for new owner
Pizzas by Marchelloni, 1210 Meriden St., Mendota, announced on its Facebook page that the owners are seeking a buyer for the business.
"After (more than 20 years) of serving the Mendota community, we have decided to pursue other opportunities," the owners said on Facebook. "It was a hard decision but we feel it’s best for our family at this time."
Those interested in the business are asked to stop into the restaurant and ask for Bob.

Spirit Halloween to open in Peru
A Spirit Halloween holiday-themed store is projected to open Wednesday, Sept. 5, between Goodwill and Hobby Lobby in Peru, according to a sign in the business window.
