Richard ‘Buttercup’ Quevy

PRINCETON — Richard “Buttercup” D. Quevy, 57, of Princeton passed away Friday, June 29, 2018, as a result of an auto accident.

Richard was born in Lincoln, Ill., on Oct. 8, 1960, to Theda P. (Hughes) DeLay. He met and married his soul mate, Kim “Mouse” Nirider, Sept. 22, 2017, at Heritage Baptist Church in Princeton. Mouse and Buttercup began their life together.

He was a graduate of Malden High School in Malden, Class of 1978.

Buttercup loved to ride motorcycles and bicycle, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan “Cheese Head.” He enjoyed collecting and shooting guns, especially with his longtime friend Ted Nugent. He also enjoyed bow hunting, traveling, cooking, and spending time with friends and family, especially Mouse. He was a member of the NRA and an outdoors lover.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Quevy; his two stepchildren, Max Wollerman and Hope (Sam) Carper; his father-in-law, Kent Nirider; one sister, Vonei (Bill) White; one sister-in-law, Dawn (Mike) Alcaraz; two nieces, Michele (Todd) Wells and Sarah Speikers; two nephews, Philip (Inge) Peterson and Bill (Cartie) White; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Theda DeLay, and his mother-in-law, Marcia K. Philhower.

Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, July 6, at the Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3 p.m. officiated by Preacher Chad Delhotal of the Heritage Baptist Church in Princeton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
