Police: Joliet couple caught having sex in car at Hammel Woods

JOLIET – A Joliet man and woman were allegedly caught by police having sex in a car parked in a Hammel Woods forest preserve lot, according to the Forest Preserve District of Will County.

At about 4 p.m. Sunday, Sergio Leyva, 22, of the 1600 block of Theodore Street, and Leah M. Genens, 23, of the 100 block of Luana Road, were arrested and charged with public indecency, Cindy Cain, Will County Forest Preserve District spokeswoman, said in an email.

Genens and Leyva were arrested at the Route 59 Access to Hammel Woods.

During a routine patrol, a Forest Preserve police officer reportedly noticed a car sitting in a Hammel Woods parking lot with garbage all around it and the back windows rolled down, Cain said. When the officer went to investigate, he allegedly caught sight of Leyva and Genens having sex in the back seat of the car.

After Genens and Leyva were arrested, they were taken to the Will County jail. Genens and Leyva were booked into custody shortly before 5:30 p.m. Sunday, according to county jail records.

Leyva was released on his own recognizance shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday, according to jail records. Genens was released on her own recognizance about 45 minutes later, jail records show.

Cain said Genens and Leyva both have court dates on May 9.
