James Tyler Jr.

ELWOOD — James E. Tyler Jr., 54, of Elwood, formerly of Hennepin, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, in Joliet.

Jim was born May 22, 1963, in St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley to James E. Sr. and Gail (Platt) Tyler.

Jim had a love for music and playing music his entire life, and was a professional drummer. He had a great and strange sense of humor and his family and friends were his life. He left Putnam County many years ago but it never left him.

Jim was a graduate of Putnam County High School, Class of 1981.

Jim is survived by his mother and stepfather, Gail and Paul McCauley of Tiskilwa; two sisters, Kimberly Clark of Crestview, Fla., and Lisa (Greg) Braswell of Austin, Texas; three nieces, Kayla Clark, Brooke Kloiber and Mia Braswell; two nephews, Jacob Braswell and Nicholas Braswell; a loving stepdaughter, Jewbele Robinson; a stepsister, Kelly Eiken of Tiskilwa; and a stepbrother, Greg McCauley of Houston, Texas.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, James E. Tyler Sr., on July 1, 1993.

As per Jim’s wishes, there will be no visitation and burial will be private.
