Police: Upset boyfriend pushes girlfriend, trashes her belongings

JOLIET – An Plainfield man was arrested after carrying his 16-year-old girlfriend away against her will and damaging her belongings, including a computer, police said.

About 10:30 p.m. Monday, Eric W. Kerzisnik Jr., 18, of the 5500 block of Meadowbrook Street in Plainfield was arrested on charges of domestic battery and criminal damage to property in connection with the incident.

Kerzisnik was booked into the Will County jail early Tuesday.

Kerzisnik reportedly got into an argument at his home over an impending breakup between himself and his 16-year-old girlfriend, Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said in an email.

Kerzisnik became upset during the argument and forcefully picked his girlfriend up against her will and carried her outside of his home, Gregory said.

Kerzisnik’s girlfriend broke free of his grasp, but he allegedly succeeded in taking the teenage girl’s cellphone.

Kerzisnik later broke the cellphone by throwing it down against the ground, Gregory said.

Kerzisnik then allegedly pushed the girlfriend from behind before throwing her boots and a book bag into the street, Gregory said.

This caused her computer, which was inside the book bag, to break, Gregory said.

Kerzisnik was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon for a bond hearing.
