CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Terrill “Terri” L. Mares Vazquez passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, in Fort Wayne, Ind., at the age of 72.
Terri was born Aug. 26, 1945, to Lyle Arthur Pollock and Helen Gibbs Pollock Thorpe in Battle Creek, Mich. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in 1963. Terri married Mitchel Mares in 1966 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton while living in Sheffield.
Terri and Mitchel had three beautiful children, Todd, Shelly and David while living in Sheffield. After Mitchel’s untimely death in 1973 she lived in Princeton for the next 15 years and raised her family. She moved to Cape Coral, Fla., in 1987 and was employed as the activities director at Health Park Care and Rehabilitation Center in Ft. Myers, Fla., until she retired in December 2016. Terri found love again while in Florida and married Eric Vazquez in 2002.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, helping others, reading, morning talks with her beloved daughter Shelly over coffee and spending time with her dog, Domino.
She is survived by her husband, Eric Vazquez of Cape Coral, Fla.; one daughter, Shelly (Mike) Clark of Valparaiso, Ind.; two stepsons, Ivan (Laura) Vazquez of Florida and Javier (Crystal) Vazquez of Florida; one stepdaughter, Sylvia (Emmanuel) Vazquez of Florida; one brother, Lee (Linda) Pollock; and 16 grandchildren, Eric Mares of Illinois, Mitch Mares of Colorado, Nicholas Clark of Indiana, Riley Clark of Indiana, Laura Ann Linquist of South Carolina, Madison Mares of Illinois, Molly Mares of Illinois, Ivan Vazquez of Florida, Lola Vazquez of Florida, Yadiel Cabeza of Florida, Melanie Cabeza of Florida, Emma Vazquez of Florida, Javier Vazquez Jr. of Florida, Destiny Vazquez of Florida, Aaliyah Vazquez of Florida and Natalia Vazquez of Florida.
Terri was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Thorpe, stepfather Wilbur Thorpe and father Lyle A. Pollock; her husband Mitchel Mares; and two sons, Todd Mares and David Mares.
Services for Terrill L. Mares-Vazquez and her son, David Mares, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at the Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton, followed by a graveside service at Oakland Cemetery in Princeton.
