McHenry County Animal Control and Adoption Center offering cat adoption special

CRYSTAL LAKE – The McHenry County Animal Control and Adoption Center is offering reduced prices on adoptable young cats throughout the month.

“Teenage cats” that are 1 to 3 years old will be half-priced all month, according to a news release from the department. Adopted cats go home from the center, 100 N. Route 14, Crystal Lake, spayed or neutered; microchipped; treated for parasites, fleas and ticks; and vaccinated with age-appropriate vaccines.

“Because last winter was so mild, we’ve had an overabundance of kittens. It’s time to move these ‘teenagers’ out and make some room,” Veterinary Public Health Division Manager Maryellen Howell said in a news release.

Photos of the furry felines are available on the McHenry County Animal Control and Adoption Center Friends Facebook page. For details on pet adoption, call the center at 815-459-6222.

“Not only do we need room for the kittens, but we thought the month of October was the perfect time to ‘fall’ in love with a new furry friend,” volunteer coordinator and health educator Kara Plonczynski said in a statement.
