STREATOR – The Illinois Irish 10U travel softball team won the SGS Storm Fall Round Robin championship.
The Irish defeated the SGS Storm, 18-1, behind winning pitcher Alyssa Zellers. Taylor Duvall had a three-hit game, and Taylor Heath added two hits.
The Irish then beat Illinois Valley Aftershock, 21-1, as Tessa Krull was the winning pitcher.
Krull also had three hits, including a home run, while Alyssa Zellers, Ella Sterling, Taylor Heath, and Aubrie Jackson each had two hits.
The Irish won a 12-1 decision over the Washington Cobras. Zeller got the win, while Krull (home run) and Camryn Stecken each had two hits.
The Illinois Irish 16U Green took third place in the East Peoria Express Fall Tournament over the weekend. August Gillman and Emily Friese each pitched two wins for the Irish as they went 4-2. Sam Goerne had a monster tournament with six doubles and three triples, while Arianna Donovan also had a big hitting weekend with four doubles and a triple.
The Illinois Irish 18U took team first place in the NSA Kankakee Battle Royale. The Irish went 4-1 to win the championship over the Chillicothe Blue Devils.
Taylor Bushman led the Irish with seven hits in the tournament, while Gigi Corban and Kylie Winsor each had six hits. Haylie Holt (2 wins), Corban, and Mollie May each earned pitching wins.
Boys soccer
Minooka 3, Providence Catholic 1: Blake Brandenburg scored twice to lead Minooka (8-6-2) to the win. Mariano Kotrba added the other goal, while Frank Thompson had two assists and Jake Westerhoff had one. Goalie Carson Heglund made 12 saves.
Girls swimming
IMSA Invitational: The Morris team finished second on the varsity level and took first in the junior varsity competition Saturday.
