Glen Ellyn police investigate Bank of America robbery

GLEN ELLYN – The Glen Ellyn Police Department is investigating a bank robbery that occurred at about 9:30 a.m. Sept. 29 at Bank of America, 600 Roosevelt Road.

Employees reported a man wearing a purple wig, knit hat and women's sunglasses entered the bank, announced a robbery and demanded money from the teller, according to a news release from the Police Department. The teller complied and gave the man an undetermined amount of money, the release stated.

The suspect ran east from the bank, according to the release. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate anyone matching the description provided by witnesses.

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid-40s, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build, the release stated.

This is the second bank robbery in the Glen Ellyn area in the last few days.

Corey Lewis, 27, of Bolingbrook, has been charged in a bank robbery Sept. 20 at TCF Bank, 2128 Mannheim Road, Westchester. He also is a suspect in the Sept. 26 robbery of the Chase Bank at 22W151 Butterfield Road near Glen Ellyn, as well as bank robberies Sept. 26 at Fifth Third Bank, 1801 Algonquin Road, Rolling Meadows; Sept. 23 at U.S. Bank, 13521 S. Route 59, Plainfield; and Sept. 18 at TCF Bank, 1156 Maple Ave., Lisle.
