Lake in the Hills seeking input on use of Indian Trail Beach

LAKE IN THE HILLS – To fish or to swim? The Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation Department is seeking resident input on what amenities to add to Indian Trail Beach.

Parks Director Laura Barron is encouraging residents to fill out an online survey after receiving input from residents that they’d like to see both fishing and swimming allowed at Indian Trail Beach, 228 Indian Trail.

The beach is used for swimming, and fishing is not allowed.

“We still have people after hours that go and fish there or bring their dogs there, so after hours it’s a bit different than what is on the sign,” Barron said. “We want to know what residents want so we can program it and add amenities that best meet their needs.”

Additionally, a rental home owned by the department will be demolished at the end of August. Barron said the department wants to know what residents would like to see in the space adjacent to Turtle Island, such as parking or a picnic space.

Residents can take the survey online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/itb-turtleisland. The survey will remain open for the next couple of weeks, Barron said. Responses will be tabulated and given to the department and the Village Board.

“We are getting ready to plan for the 2018 budget, so we are timing this to see what the response is so we can plan for the near future,” Barron said. “We encourage residents to attend Village Board and Parks and Recreation meetings, and make comments there as well.”
