Fox Valley Older Adult Services takes part in Sandwich Fair fun

Fox Valley Older Adult Services offers food for sale, parking spots and crafts to view at the Sandwich Fair, open from Sept. 6 to Sept. 10. Among the activities:

Grannie’s Eatery

Be sure to visit Grannie’s Eatery in building 23 near the Round Office for tasty, home-cooked food at great prices.

The eatery serves breakfast through dinner and offers a children’s menu. It is famous for bloomin’ onions, Polancic’s pork tenderloins, hot turkey sandwiches, deep-fried pickles and friendly service.

“Meet Me at the Fair”

Special golf cart valet service from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Sept. 6, with the Sandwich Fair Association from our parking lot across from the fairgrounds. Call 815-786-9404 for reservations. $5 donation to FVOAS requested for parking, valet ride and fair entrance.

FVOAS Craft and Info Booth

Make sure to stop by the FVOAS Ladies Craft Booth in commercial building 3 featuring knit and crochet items including the ever-popular dish cloths and chair booties. Buy a raffle ticket on a beautiful quilt.

New this year are general FVOAS information and a visit from a representative of the Illinois State ICASH Program to assist adults in claiming money that is being safeguarded by the Treasurer’s Office. A representative from ICASH will be at the booth from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

A gorgeous handmade quilt will be raffled, too.

Fair parking

Parking spaces will again be available at Fox Valley Community Center just across Suydam Road from the fairgrounds. FVOAS sells fair tickets and you can enter the midway at the gate just across Suydam Road. Weekly parking passes are available.

Finally Fridays Bar

Again this year, the bar will be open for business each night of the fair, offering a cool place (just across Suydam Road from the green horse barn) to escape from the noise and heat of the fair while you enjoy an icy cold beverage and a snack.

Want to volunteer?

FVOAS is always looking for more volunteers at fair time for Grannie’s, the parking lot and craft and info booth. Call 815-786-9404 or sign up at the Fox Valley Community Center, 1406 Suydam Road, right across the street from the fairgrounds. All proceeds benefit programs and services provided by Fox Valley Older Adult Services.
