The Mt. Morris Jamboree will welcome the Tom Sharpe Ensemble for a free two-hour concert on Friday, July 21 at 7 p.m. at the Reckmeyer Band Shell in downtown Mt. Morris.
Tom Sharpe is the drummer for the Grammy Award winning group Mannheim Steamroller, the number one selling Christmas tour of all time.
Along with his heavy tour schedule, Sharpe is an internationally recognized, critically acclaimed composer, and the creator of his own world music ensemble, Sharpe
World Music.
His own compositions have won many awards, including the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the Broadjam World Music Contest.
He is the former drummer for Dennis DeYoung from the famed rock group STYX, and is alumni of the Interlochen Arts Academy.
Mt. Morris alum, Jeff Elbel will be joining Sharpe on bass.
Theresa Brooks plays bassoon, Kelly Bayer Langenberg plays French horn, and Amanda Nelson plays cello to round out the ensemble.
Pinecrest Community will servie a potato bar and drinks at 6 p.m.
Come to town early and have a look at all the good locally grown produce and other foods and crafts available at the Mt. Morris Community Farmers Market held in the bank parking lot at the corner of Wesley Avenue and Ill. 64 from 4 to 7 p.m., every Friday through October.
The rain location for the concert and concessions is the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge, 101 Moose Drive, just off of East Hitt Street at the same times.
