ELMHURST – Elmhurst Panhellenic Foundation recently awarded college scholarships totaling $16,000 to 10 Elmhurst women for their higher education.
Funds were raised at Wild for Fashion 2017, a fashion show and primary annual fundraiser to fund scholarships benefiting Elmhurst women’s education.
The scholarships were awarded at an April 13 reception.
Recipients included Alaina Bottens, Charline Dose, Stephanie Garcia, Camille Peterson, Avisa Ravanmehr, Asiye Uzun, Kassandra Galang, Emily Gifford, Samantha Muhlena and Megan Jankovec.
Elmhurst Panhellenic Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to providing educational scholarships to deserving Elmhurst women, according to an organization news release. Since 1931, the group has awarded more than $359,000 in scholarships, the release stated.
The scholarships are awarded based upon financial need, academic excellence, extracurricular participation, merit and service, according to the release. Scholarships are not contingent upon association with a sorority or fraternity.
Elmhurst Panhellenic was organized Nov. 6, 1931. Any alumnae of National Panhellenic sororities are eligible to join Elmhurst Panhellenic. Regular meetings are on the second Thursday of each month. Activities include guest speakers, social outings, service opportunities, scholarship efforts and more.
