Immediate family
My wife and local Realtor, Alyssa Taecker, and I purchased and improved a distressed property in the Willowbrook subdivision five years ago. My son Ayden, age 8, is a second grader at Wasco Elementary School and loves reading and sports. Daughter Naiya, born in August this past year, is the newest addition to our family, and is currently working on her crawling technique.
Civic involvement
I have been a member of the village of Campton Hills Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals since August of 2015, and have served as the board chairman since May of 2016.
Previous elected offices held?
Village of Campton Hills Planning Commission/ZBA member since August of 2015; village of Campton Hills Planning Commission/ZBA Board Chairman since May of 2016
Why have you decided to run for election/reelection in the Campton Hills trustee race?
As a trustee my goals would include the betterment of our community for current and future residents without sacrificing the health of the environment. Protecting our water resources and public open space whenever possible is a priority. I also believe in allowing citizens to utilize their land without complicated over-restriction, and that decisions made should be in the best interest of the entire community. I look forward to continuing to help Campton Hills achieve controlled growth in a responsible and sustainable manner.
What project most needs to be completed in Campton Hills? And how would you work to ensure the project is actually finished and done well?
The village of Campton Hills Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances need to be completed. Originally, Campton Hills adopted the ordinances of Kane County, which no longer suffice. This project has long been anticipated and is making headway now that it has funding from the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning. Currently in a rough draft phase, the village has been working with Camiros – “a full-service planning, zoning, and urban design consultancy with clients throughout the country” – to meet the current and future needs of the community. Due to be completed towards the end of this year, the next phase will include input from the public and full transparency throughout the process.
What experience and/or strengths would you bring to the board if elected/re-elected?
I take pride in working hard, building strong relationships and taking responsibility for the betterment of our community through civic involvement. My time on the planning commission has allowed me the opportunity to learn a lot about the village and how I can help to make it a better place for all residents.
What, if anything, should be done about the Fox Mill open space issue?
The homeowners association of Fox Mill is doing a fine job maintaining the property, and it should be left to their management as long as it remains public open space. It is clear that the Forest Preserve District of Kane County wants no part of it.
In your opinion, what would be a good use for the former Glenwood School for Boys?
St. Charles School District 303 should look into turning the property into a middle school for the residents west of Randall. The facility is already well set up for this purpose.
What differentiates you from the other candidate(s) running for this seat?
I am unbiased, open to change, fair and always try to look at things from the community perspective.
Outside of politics, what are some of your other interests?
I love spending time outside with family and friends enjoying nature and rural living. I am also an avid hockey enthusiast, and play regularly on an adult league.
Why should people vote for you in this race?
I would like to see the village of Campton Hills be a leader to its surrounding communities now and for generations to come. I sincerely look forward to my continued involvement in the community, serving in the best interest of our citizens, and maintaining the wonderful place that we choose to call home.
