WALNUT — Thomas H. Stone, 63, of Walnut died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 8, 1953, at Camp Roberts, Calif., the son of W. Lowell and Marian A. (Kilbride) Stone. He was a 1972 graduate of Walnut High School and had served in Germany for three years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He married Kristine Teske on Sept. 15, 1979, in Manlius. Tom had worked at Walnut Sand and Gravel and later worked as an operator at Valcom Materials in Lisbon. He was a member of Local 150 of Operating Engineers. Tom had served as a volunteer and as an EMT with the Walnut Fire Department. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Kristine; his daughter, Andrea (Steve) Guy of Walnut; his son, Matt (Ashleigh) Stone of Walnut; his mother, Marian Stone-Olson of the Villages, Fla.; his sisters, Susan (John) Nordick of Dallas, Texas, Mary Ann Stone of Oxford, Fla., and Julie Stone of Walnut; his brothers, James (Gosia) Stone of Seatttle, Wash., and Andrew (Christine) Stone of the Villages, Fla.; six grandchildren, Nicole Stone, Evalyn Stone, Jacob Guy, Hannah Guy, Serenity Stone, and Remmington Stone.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell; and his stepfather, Harry Olson.
Private family services will be held at the Garland Funeral Home, Walnut. Burial with military honors will follow at Walnut Cemetery.
A celebration of his life gathering will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church fellowship hall in Manlius.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory to VITAS Hospice and or the Walnut Fire Department would be appreciated.
