Uber driver arrested for alleged credit card theft

Oswego police have arrested an Uber driver following a two-month investigation into allegations he unlawfully used a passenger's credit cards.

Farzad Khamissi, 37, of the 400 block of Dancer Lane in Oswego is charged with four counts of unlawful use of a credit card, a Class 4 felony.

A victim reported to Oswego police June 5 that she had used the Uber ride service the previous morning in Geneva and believed she left her cell phone and credit cards in the backseat of the vehicle, police said.

"The Uber driver, Khamissi, is alleged to have used the credit cards to make unauthorized charges at several businesses in Oswego, totaling over $500," police said.

A warrant was issued for Khamissi's arrest on July 28 with a $10,000 bond, and Khamissi turned himself in on Aug. 9, police said.

Khamissi "was booked and processed at the Oswego Police Department and released on bond pending court," police said.
