Chicago man at kitchen table dies after bullet pierces door

CHICAGO (AP) – Chicago Police say a man sitting at his kitchen table was killed when a bullet pierced his front door and struck him in the head.

Andres Rivera, 58, was pronounced dead about a half hour after he was shot at 8 p.m. Saturday on the city’s southwest side.

Police don’t believe he was the intended target.

Police are investigating two other weekend shooting deaths. On Saturday night, a 26-year-old man was pronounced dead after he was found on the sidewalk on the city’s West Side. On Sunday, a 35-year-old man in a car traveling on North Lake Shore Drive was shot by someone in another vehicle.

Neither man has been identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Police say no arrests have been made in any of the cases.
