Marengo man accused of shooting Woodstock man with BB gun at golf course

50-year-old was shot twice in hand at Marengo Ridge Golf Club's 18th hole, police say

MARENGO – A Marengo man was charged with battery in a Monday incident in which another man was shot twice in the hand with a BB gun at the 18th hole of Marengo Ridge Golf Club.

Marc Prince, 41, was charged Monday evening after the incident, which McHenry County Sheriff's Deputy Aimee Knop said occurred about 3:30 p.m.

The 50-year-old victim, of Woodstock, was retrieving a golf ball near the edge of the golf course property line when he was shot twice in the hand, Knop said.

It is alleged that the BB gun was shot from a residential area in the 9100 block of Country Club Trace, she added.

The victim suffered minor injuries, but did not require transport to a hospital.

Prince was charged with battery, a Class A misdemeanor, Knop said.

She added the sheriff's office is working with the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office and that the investigation will include whether the act was intentional or not.
