Cortland man faces sex assault charges

SYCAMORE – A Cortland man facing sexual assault charges will go before a judge Wednesday.

Andrew V. Castillo, 28, of the first block of East Hummingbird Lane, Cortland is charged with criminal sexual assault, punishable by four to 15 years in prison.

Authorities say the man used force to sexually assault a woman on Feb. 20, court records show.

Police arrested Castillo on Saturday and he posted $3,000 bail that same day and was released, records show.

Castillo has been ordered to stay in Illinois unless granted leave by a judge, court records show.

Police were not immediately available for comment.
