Face Time with Jessica Burkoth

St. Charles resident Jessica Burkoth, 33, was at the Hickory Knolls Discovery Center in St. Charles when she answered 11 questions for the Kane County Chronicle's Brenda Schory.

Where did you grow up? Glen Ellyn

Pets? A Weimaraner named Cadence and a yellow lab named Diesel. And we have six chickens, three each of Rhode Island Reds and Plymouth Rocks. Their names are Sunnyside Up, Over Easy, Scrambled, Chickaletta, Gruffalola and Big Bertha.

First job? Baby-sitting

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A teacher, and I did teach first grade for 10 years. Now, I have been home with my children for three years.

How many children do you have? I have four, including two identical twin girls who are 18 months old.

A book you’d recommend? “A Short Path to Change” by Jenny Mannion, or “Essential Oils for a Clean and Healthy Home: 200+ Amazing Household Uses for Tea Tree Oil, Peppermint Oil, Lavender Oil, and More,” by Kasey Schwartz

Favorite charity? I run a lot of 5Ks to raise money for different charities and causes.

Words of wisdom? Everything in moderation

Favorite ice cream flavor? Chocolate chip cookie dough

Favorite local restaurant? Bien Trucha in Geneva

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I ran a marathon in Walt Disney World, Florida.
