PLAINFIELD – Plainfield Park District’s Normantown Equestrian Center Show Team ended the year with accomplishment.
Show team members Bailey Butler, Hannah Kucera and Elizabeth Horvat – coached by Amanda Bergman, recreation manager equine services – completed their second year of competition in the Place to Start circuit on Nov. 6 in Crystal Lake.
The Place to Start circuit is the highest level of competition offered to Normantown Equestrian Center students. The Normantown Equestrian Center Show Team was created to give advanced participants a chance to showcase their skills in a competitive arena.
Requirements to be part of the show team included a commitment to take at least four private lessons per month and dedicate time outside of those lessons to being in the saddle. Those participating in the Place to Start circuit must also own or share board the horse that they show along the commitment to participating in at least 3 Place to Start competitions during the season.
The Normantown Equestrian team also competes at a number of local barn schooling shows that provide participants an opportunity to add to their riding experiences.
