St. Charles company seeks brides-to-be, newlyweds to test product

ST. CHARLES – As a bride-to-be, Sarah-Eva Marchese struggled to articulate to her florist the floral style she envisioned.

That challenge prompted the St. Charles resident to start Mott and Spry, a company that aims to empower individuals to create their own flower style and communicate that to florists, she said.

Through Pedls, a patent-pending database, users can design personalized floral arrangements, Marchese said. For example, she said, Pedls not only can help users pick flowers that are in season and available locally, but it also can help users select flowers based on pop culture references, such as those that appear in fiction or in celebrities’ weddings.

Pedls took about three years to build, Marchese said, and now Mott and Spry is about to begin beta testing its cascade bouquet design tool kit.

But to do that, Marchese needs help. Marchese is seeking people to try the tool kit, which ultimately gives users a blueprint for their bouquet. Testers will have two weeks to play with the product and should be engaged, recently married or bridal industry consultants, she said, noting a goal of 50 testers.

Participants must have an Internet connection capable of streaming high-quality video, as well as access to a Web browser, such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer.

Applications are available at www.mottandspry.com and will be accepted through Saturday, Marchese said.

Mott and Spry has incentives for those who provide feedback, she said, and it will plant a flowering fruit tree in Haiti for those who participate.

“Giving back is really important to us,” she said.
