Rise Fitness Studio in Glen Ellyn opens indoor cycling studio

Open house set for Oct. 23

GLEN ELLYN – Rise Fitness Studio has added another option for those who want to stay fit.

A dedicated indoor cycling studio is opening a few doors down from Rise's flagship studio at 499C Pennsylvania Ave. in downtown Glen Ellyn. Rise Cycle will open its doors at 505 Pennsylvania Ave. with a grand opening party and classes Oct. 23, 24 and 25.

During an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 23, residents will be able to check out the cycling bikes as well as enjoy some live music. Classes will be held Oct. 24 and 25 for $10.

"It's a complement to what we already have," said Glen Ellyn resident Janelle Sullivan, owner of Rise, in talking about Rise Cycle. "It was a natural progression. It's going to be a cool place. It is going to be very high energy and a lot of fun. The instructors will be able to meet the needs of everybody, from a novice cyclist to a hard-core cyclist."

Rise Cycle will offer classes early in the morning, during the day and in the evenings. Two types of classes are currently planned – an intense, one-hour session designed for the serious cyclist along with a 45-minute ride followed by 15 minutes of strength training for those interested in combining cardio with a weights workout.

Rise Cycle will feature Schwinn Carbon Blue indoor bikes led by instructors trained by Schwinn Indoor Cycling. Cycling shoes are optional but recommended, and can be fitted at the neighboring Element Multisport store at 495 Main St. in downtown Glen Ellyn, Sullivan said.

Rise Fitness Studio opened in May 2014 in downtown Glen Ellyn after group fitness classes were first taught out of Sunshine Dance Studio's space for 10 months. Her studio provides hands-on coaching, Sullivan said.

"Everyone is taught very personalized," she said. "It's very unique, in that aspect."
