Lombard police: Man found dead after he barricaded himself in apartment

Man posted messages on social media about harming himself

LOMBARD – A 32-year-old man who had barricaded himself in an apartment July 28 was found dead inside after police managed to gain entry, according to a Lombard Police Department news release.

At about 5 a.m. July 28, officers responded to the 800 block of Foxworth Boulevard in Lombard to concerns about a Lombard man who had posted messages about harming himself on social media. As they attempted to make contact with him, a gunshot was heard and a bullet struck the wall in the hallway where officers were located, the release said.

According to the release, the FIAT SWAT team was then requested, and efforts to make contact with the man continued. The apartment was eventually secured and authorities gained entry, at which point the man was found dead.

Police detectives, in conjunction with the DuPage County’s Coroner’s Office, are conducting a death investigation. There were no additional injuries and the police department is not seeking any suspects at this time, the release stated.
