Oswego Otters capture third place

Swim team competed at North Central Illinois Swim Conference

The Oswegoland Park District’s Otters swim team placed third overall in the North Central Illinois Swim Conference at the Kishwaukee YMCA on July 18.

This is the team’s first year returning to the “A” Conference thanks to head coach Kim McGraw, assistant head coach Sara Converse, and assistant coaches Gabe Baginski, Amanda Sommerfeld, Tim Durning, Nick Snopek, Miranda Ambre and Sydney Lloyd.

At the conference meet, the 11-12 girls received the Age Group High Point Championship Award and several team records were broken.

Allie Casanovas broke both of her own records she set this year. The new Girls 6 & Under, 25 Freestyle record is 17.74, breaking her record of 18.58 set on July 7. The new Girls 6 & Under, 25 Backstroke record is 22.87, breaking her record of 24.28 set on June 16.

Jack Hawkins did it again, setting his sixth record this year. The new Boys 10 & Under, 50 Backstroke record is 34.86, breaking a record from 1992.

Skylar Ruggles set a new record in the Girls 11-12, 100 Freestyle with a time of 59.93, breaking a record set in 2012.

Kayla Deubel set a record in the Girls 13-14, 50 Freestyle with a time of 26.36, breaking a record from 2006.

Ethan Schrader, Kaleb Stumpenhorst, Josiah Aguado and Chase Maier set a record in the Boys 8 & Under, Medley Relay with a time of 1:19.83, breaking a record set on June 30 of this year.

Ethan Schrader, Chase Maier, Matthew Waechter and Carter Rapp set a record in the Boys 8 & Under, Free Relay with a time of 1:09.45, breaking the record set last year by two of the boys.

Braedon Clark, Garrett O'Grady, Beckett McGraw and Ethan Castilla set a record in the Boys 11-12, Medley Relay with a time of 2:14.21, breaking a record set in 1999.
