Helfers: Mark the calendars for upcoming events in Marengo

On behalf of the Marengo-Union Chamber of Commerce and the Hampshire Area Chamber of Commerce, we again would like to extend our sincere thanks to all our benefactors and players for making our second annual golf outing a great success. Mother Nature surely agreed with our purpose. Congratulations to the Marengo Fire Department team who won the outing with the lowest score.

But mark your calendars for more events. The 2015 Marengo Music Fest on Aug. 15 is at a new location, the vacant lots across the street from Marengo High School, 110 Franks Road. This exciting location provides us the room to host the car show and the Show and Shine, plus all the other events you expect at the fest.

The bingo tent makes a comeback. The Marengo Fire Department will be calling those lucky numbers from 3 to 9 p.m. The car show lasts from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The Show and Shine runs from 2 to 5 p.m. The McHenry County Sheriff's office will have their armored Humvee on display for everyone to enjoy. The first 100 entries will receive dash plaques. Trophies will be awarded to Best in Show, first-, second- and third-place winners.

Music will start at 1 p.m., featuring four genres for all-day enjoyment. Another Shade of Grey, Hans and the Hormones, The Brian Lavender Band and The Leftovers are all scheduled to perform.

WXMR 94.3 Marengo Community Radio will live broadcast the event throughout the day. We are still looking for volunteers to help set up, clean up and assist attendees.

Other events include a chamber mixer hosted by Marengo Auto Group from 5 to 7 p.m., Aug. 18 at 844 W. Grant Highway, Marengo

I also want to welcome a new member. Fern and Hearth Boutique, 205 S. State St., Marengo, offers a huge selection of locally made products and much more.

To hear live chamber news and updates, tune in to WXMR 94.3 from 8 to 9 a.m. every Wednesday morning. Information and forms on all our events are available at www.marengo-union.com.
