DOWNERS GROVE – Zeigler Auto Group has announced plans for a second dealership in the village, the Downers Grove Economic Development Corp. announced in a news release.

The dealership will feature new Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles, in addition to preowned vehicles. It will be located at 2501 Ogden Ave., at the corner of Ogden Avenue and Cross Street.

Site plans have been submitted to the village, which must approve the project, according to Michael Cassa, president and CEO of the development corporation. He expects the project will be approved fairly quickly.

"The site itself, at one time, was a car dealership," he said. "So it's not a complicated project from that standpoint. You're not changing its former use."

There are several benefits to the new dealership, Cassa said. It will help promote Ogden Avenue as a location for more car dealerships to open and will occupy a vacant site. It will also result in additional tax revenue.

Cassa said the dealership is estimated to have net sales of $24 million per year, which would result in an additional $240,000 in annual sales tax revenue for the village.

"New car dealerships are a very important part of our local economy," he said.

Zeigler Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram opened its first dealership in Downers Grove in 2009 at 2311 Ogden Ave., according to the release.

"We are excited about the opportunity to grow in Downers Grove," said Aaron Zeigler, president of Zeigler Auto Group, in the release. "Downers Grove has been a great place for us to do business, and adding a new location will give us the opportunity to serve our customers and the business community with additional products and services."

The village is excited about the new dealership.

"We are thrilled that Zeigler Auto Group has decided to open a second dealership in our community," said Mayor Martin Tully in the release. "This project will enhance and further establish Ogden Avenue in Downers Grove as a prime location for auto dealers, and a preferred destination for their customers."

Zeigler Auto Group was founded in 1975 in Lowell, Mich. The company has 52 franchises in 200 locations across Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and New York.
