Spotlight on Hook’s Hideaway

MORRIS – Hook's Hideaway is the most recent Grundy County Chamber of Commerce & Industry business spotlight. The gaming parlor at 1715 N. Division St., Morris, is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday from noon to midnight. It is owned by Susie Hook and managed by Charlie Akin, according to a news release from the chamber.
 
What is your specialty?

"Gaming parlor – a quiet relaxing, beachy atmosphere to enjoy playing video slot machines," Hook said in the news release.
 
What would you like to tell our readers about your business?

"Hook's Hideaway is not a 'bar atmosphere.' It's a place to go and relax in a beach-themed place for any ages 21 and older. Quiet room for the video gaming area, an area for indoor beanbag game, tables to enjoy a cocktail and watch TV."
 
What are your plans for the
future?

"By Oct. 1 to have golf simulators up and running. [To] rent out [the] other side for small get-togethers / parties, [and] hire some help."
 
What other information is
important to tell our readers?

“This is not considered a ‘bar.’ ... This is a gaming parlor. You legally have to provide liquor. … It’s quiet and quaint … free coffee, soda, water and basket of chips for gamers.”

The grand opening/open house, is from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. A grand prize of a 42-inch TV will be given away, along with giveaways every hour, snacks and sandwiches. There also will be free pool and free darts all day.
