GENEVA – Lawrence Colburn, the owner of Preservation Bread & Wine, 513 S. Third St., Geneva, bought the building his restaurant is in, as well as a neighboring property, 511 S. Third St.
Spokesman Aaron Adams said Colburn, of St. Charles, closed on the properties last week and that Colburn did not want to say how much he paid for the properties. Adams said Colburn opened Preservation Bread & Wine about four years ago.
According to land records, 511-513 S. Third St., was owned by Janet McCormick of St. Charles and Margaret McDonnell of Batavia.
"He's been wanting to own it for a while," Adams said of the building where his business was a tenant. "Serendipitously, the opportunity came. And it did come with the Smuzi [Juice Bar] building. Preservation Bread & Wine is going to stay the same. But the other place will be a new concept."
According to its Facebook page, Smuzi closed in August.
