St. Charles Park District plans outdoor skating rinks

ST. CHARLES – The St. Charles Park District will have four outdoor ice skating rinks. Skating at these rinks is free, but guests are encouraged to skate only when each rink is officially designated as open for use. New this year, there is a skating rink downtown St. Charles at Lincoln Park.

The other two rinks maintained for skating use only are Davis Park and Timber Trails Park. Langum Park is also set up for ice hockey action. Lincoln Park is between Fourth and Fifth streets on Main Street. Davis Park is on Horne Street, west of Eighth Street. Timber Trails is on the far north end of 17th Street. Langum Park is at Seventh and Madison avenues.

Rinks are open daily when weather and ice conditions permit. Skaters are advised to call 630-513-4320 before heading out to determine ice rink conditions. The dstrict needs three consecutive days of weather at 15 degrees or lower to begin freezing these outdoor rinks. Then this cold spell must be followed up by at least five days of weather below 32 degrees before the ice can be used.
