Gerald E. Mohr

STERLING – Gerald E. Mohr, 75, of Sterling, formerly of Sublette, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Born Dec. 9, 1939 in Davenport, Iowa, he was the son of Edwin and Josephine (Zinger) Mohr. He was united in marriage to Carol Musal on June 25, 1960 in Bettendorf.

Gerald was employed with the Broaster Co. in Beloit for 30 years, retiring in 2005 as company president. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, an avid Cubs, Bears and Iowa Hawkeye fan, and enjoyed spending time with his K-9 companion, Bunny.

Surviving are his wife, Carol, of Sterling; two daughters, Patricia (Phil) Timm of Rockford and Jennifer (Tom) Stewart of Sublette; two sons, Jeffrey (Amanda) Mohr of Sterling and Matthew (Erika) Mohr of Roscoe; grandchildren, Melissa, Michelle, Randi, Nicole, Jessica, Jacob, Anna, Payton, Olivia, and Kristina; and a great-grandson, Maddox.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Janet Doyle.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today with the rosary recited at 4:45 p.m., at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Bruce Ludeke officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.
