Assault
Michael Bergl, 43, 700 block of Hillside Avenue, was charged at 12:40 a.m. Oct. 15 with assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest at his home after throwing a glass jar filled with coins at someone.
Domestic battery
• Rogelio Huerta, 53, 3100 block of Rhodes Avenue, Melrose Park, was charged at 1:49 a.m. Oct. 12 with domestic battery in the 100 block East Fullerton Avenue.
• Matthew Ortiz, 10, 3600 block of North Olcott Avenue, was charged at 9:58 p.m. Oct. 15 with domestic battery in the 900 block of South Euclid Avenue.
Heroin possession
Jeremy Wilson, 32, 200 block of Mohawk Drive, Bensenville, was charged at 2:20 p.m. Oct. 17 with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon, driving while license suspended and attempted obstructing justice at North Avenue and Illinois Street after police found him allegedly passed out in his vehicle with eight baggies of heroin. Wilson also had two warrants out for his arrest.
DUI
• Chalan Peterson, 28, 5500 block of North Kenmore Avenue, Chicago, was charged at 1:45 a.m. Oct. 11 with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while license suspended, improper lane usage, speeding and illegal transportation of open alcohol at North and Myrtle avenues.
• Moses Tumwine, 40, 1000 block of Nerge Road, Elk Grove Village, was charged at 4:09 a.m. Oct. 11 with DUI of alcohol at Interstate 290 and St. Charles Road.
• Ismael Zermeno, 60, 1300 block of Williams Port Drive, Westmont, was charged at 10:54 p.m. Oct. 11 with two counts of DUI of alcohol in the 200 block of East Butterfield Road.
• Gregory S. Uliasz, 48, 2400 block of South Sarah Street, Franklin Park, was charged at 3:36 p.m. Oct. 14 with DUI of drugs, failure to reduce speed and no insurance at North and Melrose avenues.
Marijuana possession
• Kenneth Johnson, 63, 4600 block of Butterfield Road, Bellwood, was charged at 1:11 a.m. Oct. 11 with unlawful possession of marijuana, uninsured car, no valid driver’s license and expired registration at York Street and Butterfield Road.
• Ricardo Castro, 32, 600 block of Legoin Street, Maywood, was charged at 2:52 a.m. Oct. 16 with possession of marijuana at North Avenue and Route 83 after he was found with 6 grams of marijuana.
Drug paraphernalia
possession
Benny Mendoza, 20, 100 block of North Elmwood Avenue, Wood Dale, was charged at 12:19 p.m. Oct. 17 with possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a motor vehicle while using an electronic communication device at Route 83 and St. Charles Road.
Disorderly conduct
Mark Ward, 50, 1400 block of Polo Drive, Bartlett, was charged at 7:19 a.m. Oct. 15 with disorderly conduct in the 300 block of North York Street after he was reported lying face down on the sidewalk and police smelled alcohol on him.
Public intoxication
• Michael Carreno, 31, 200 block of North Oaklawn Avenue, was cited at 12:16 a.m. Oct. 14 for disorderly conduct – public intoxication in the 300 block of North Elm Avenue.
• Jeffrey Funk, 64, 400 block of South Argyle Avenue, was cited at 9:47 p.m. Oct. 14 for disorderly conduct – public intoxication in the 500 block of South Spring Road.
Garage fire
A garage fire was damaged after coals caught fire next to the garage at 6:16 p.m. Oct. 8 in the 400 block of South Rex Boulevard. A woman used a hose to put out the fire, and no injuries were reported.
Suspicious phone call
An Elmhurst woman reported receiving a voice mail from someone claiming to be with the U.S. Treasury Department at 8:05 a.m. Oct. 17 in the 300 block of West McKinley Avenue. When she returned the call, the person who answered told her the police were coming to her house to arrest her. When police called the phone number, the person on the other end hung up.
Deceptive practice
A man paid $1,400 for Bears tickets sold on Craigslist, but never received the tickets at 2 p.m. Oct. 3 in the 300 block of South Cottage Hill Avenue.
Forgery
A check was altered and cashed between 12:01 a.m. and noon Sept. 15 in the 500 block of West Lake Street.
Identity theft
A woman’s social security account was reported compromised at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 16 in the 100 block of East Park Avenue.
Attempted theft
Two boxes containing new gun safes were pushed out of a parked semi-trailer and one was out of the box with its door off its hinges between 8 a.m. Oct 10 and 3:36 p.m. Oct. 12 in the 800 block of Riverside Drive.
Theft, burglary
• Tools were reportedly stolen from inside a garage between 8:30 p.m. Oct. 10 and 9:11 a.m. Oct. 11 in the 700 block of North Kenilworth Avenue.
• Antiana Harris, 20, 1600 block of South Stratford Avenue, Westchester, was charged at 9:46 p.m. Sept. 28 with retail theft in the 300 block of South Route 83.
• A bottle of Silver Patron valued at $108.99 was reportedly stolen from a store at 5:10 p.m. Oct. 13 in the 900 block of South York Street.
• An unlocked bicycle was reportedly stolen between 5:15 and 5:30 p.m. Oct. 13 in the 900 block of South York Street.
• Four juveniles were cited for retail theft at 4:37 p.m. Oct. 15 in the 200 block of South Route 83.
• A city of Elmhurst parking permit was reportedly stolen from inside an unlocked car between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Oct. 14 in the 100 block of West First Street.
• A bike was reportedly stolen between 5 p.m. Oct. 13 and 11 p.m. Oct. 15 in the 200 block of West First Street.
• A man made a fraudulent exchange at a store between 12:10 and 12:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in the 100 block of North York Street.
Property damage
• A section of guard rail was found lying in weeds at 12:47 a.m. Oct. 11 in the 200 block of North Hampshire Avenue.
• A six-point star was reportedly etched into the overhead latch of a car between 5 p.m. Oct. 11 and 8 a.m. Oct. 12 in the 300 block of East Webster Avenue.
• A gate was reportedly damaged between 3:30 p.m. Oct. 11 and 7:30 a.m. Oct. 13 in the 700 block of South Route 83.
• A car was reportedly keyed between 9 p.m. Oct. 5 and 4:10 p.m. Oct. 15 in the 400 block of West Lake Street. Five other cars also were keyed at the location in the past.
Criminal defacement
Graffiti was reportedly spray-painted between noon Oct. 9 and 10:28 a.m. Oct. 16 under the St. Charles Road bridge over Salt Creek at Route 83 and St. Charles Road.
Property lost
A wallet containing an Illinois driver’s license, credit card and $160 in cash was lost between 4:30 and 6 p.m. Oct. 11 at York Street and St. Charles Road.
