Monther El Bzour, MD is one of three doctors who staff the Cardiology Department of KSB Hospital. Dr. El Bzour, an interventional cardiologist, sees a variety of patients with heart and vascular problems. When it comes to patients, Dr. El Bzour has two goals. “My goal is to save the patient’s life first and give the patient the best quality of life possible. I also want to bring to this great community of Dixon the best care and latest technology that they deserve and expect to receive in any big center across the country,” he said.
Dr. El Bzour stays up to date on changing technology and medical science by attending conferences, staying in touch with colleagues around the country and visiting other centers on a regular basis. This has also allowed the department to bring advanced technology found only at KSB in the area. “I and my partner, Dr. Hanif, use all kinds of latest balloons and stents to unclog arteries of the heart and legs. We just brought a new monitoring device that we can implant under the skin in the chest area that monitors the heart around the clock. We use it to diagnose the reasons behind patients passing out, etiology of certain strokes and to monitor certain rhythm problems,” said Dr. El Bzour. He is able to review the patient’s heart rhythm using a cell phone if any problems arise. The department also uses a special machine called EECP that increases blood flow to the heart by pumping blood from the legs up to heart using cuffs applied to both legs. “Again we are proud to say that we are the only people in the area to offer it to our people in Dixon,” he said.
