After helping a U.S. team win an international competition over the weekend, it's back to reality for six Wonder Lake water skiers.

Jarret Graff, Jayson Rishling, Jordon Shulda, Arik Lebda, and Kim and Dan Hansen competed as part of the winning, 35-person Team USA in the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation's second biennial world championship.

"It was great," said Graff, who was chosen to be a member of Team USA this year and in 2012. "It was another amazing experience."

Located at Janesville, Wisconsin's Traxler Park, the competition was Saturday and Sunday and invited teams from the U.S., Canada, Australia, Belgium and China.

The six Wonder Lake skiers left Sept. 9 for Wisconsin and returned at the end of the weekend.

According to a news release from USA Water Ski, each of the five teams performed two shows over two days, with the highest-scoring performance determining the champion.

The U.S. water ski team earned a total of 1,954.92 points throughout the competition, according to the release. Australia lagged behind by more than 400 points, followed by Canada, China and Belgium.

Aside from a practice session in Florida earlier in the year, Graff said the U.S. team only had a few days to practice before the competition.

"We skied hard together for three days of practice and then pulled it all together for Saturday and Sunday," he said.

After a celebratory banquet at the end of the weekend, Graff said it was time for the six skiers to head home.

“We had a wonderful time,” he said. “It was great representing Wonder Lake as well as the United States.”
