BRIDGEVIEW – The head of security for the Chicago Transit Authority provided a video account of John Wilson Jr.'s movements after he left a Willow Springs convenience store, just hours after he allegedly stabbed 14-year-old Kelli O'Laughlin to death during a home robbery gone bad on Oct. 27, 2011.

James Higgins, CTA's manager of security, took the stand today, Day 5 of the murder trial, to explain the video security system that allowed him to provide the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force with a video chronology of Wilson's movements on the Orange and Red Lines.

Wilson hired a cab from a 7-Eleven in Willow Springs to drive him to a CTA station at Midway Airport about 8 p.m. The cab driver was paid by Wilson with coins allegedly stolen from the O'Laughlin home, prosecutors said.

Higgins told the court how he was contacted by the Task Force and provided with a description of Wilson so he could review video footage provided through the CTA's network of 23,000 cameras that cover both trains and buses.

The court sat attentively as prosecutors played the video account, clearly showing Wilson casually walking through several gates and platforms on his way home.
