WINFIELD – Cadence Health, which includes Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, officially merged with Northwestern Memorial HealthCare earlier this week.
As of Monday, Cadence was integrated with Northwestern to operate under the Northwestern Medicine brand name, according to a joint news release.
The integrated health system includes Central DuPage Hospital, Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago and Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest.
The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board unanimously approved Northwestern Memorial HealthCare’s application to combine health systems on July 14, the release stated.
The integration creates an expanded health delivery network of more than 60 sites across the Chicago area, about 1,600 inpatient beds, 19,500 employees and a medical staff of 4,000 physicians, according to the release.
Northwestern Memorial HealthCare President and CEO Dean M. Harrison remains president and CEO of the expanded health system, and Mike Vivoda, Cadence Health’s president and CEO, will be the group’s regional president of its western region, the release stated.
“Our union is great for patients because it positions us to continue to provide unrivaled quality care within our communities,” Vivoda said in the release. “As one integrated health system, not only can we continue to fulfill the health needs of our region, we can leverage our collective strength as Northwestern Medicine to build stronger, healthier communities.”
